Garage door repair costs — guidance, not a quote

Garage door work is priced once the door, springs, tracks and opener are known. These factors move the cost up or down.

What drives the cost

  • Type of job: a spring or cable replacement, an off-track reset, an opener repair, weather seals or a new door.
  • Door type and size: single, double, sectional or older tilt-up.
  • Parts: torsion or extension springs matched to door weight, cables, rollers, seals and openers.
  • Whether photo-eye sensors, remotes or keypads need repair or replacement.
  • Wind-load or insulation requirements on replacement doors.
  • Time of day: late-night and weekend call-outs versus scheduled daytime work.
  • Travel distance and access, especially in dense city neighborhoods.

Ask before work starts

A clear quote before any work begins is normal — including the call-out charge, labour and parts. If the price on arrival is very different from what you were told on the phone, you can say no before any work starts.

Why there is no price list here

Two broken springs that look alike can need different spring wire sizes and drum hardware, so any fixed price would be guesswork. Official safety and building guidance is linked below.
